| The Beginner's Triathlon Guide by Coach James, Head Coach of Loaring Personal Coaching (LPC) Welcome to the exciting, challenging, and rewarding world of multi-sport. The below six part Beginner's Triathlon Guide is provided to help guide the beginner triathlete along the wonderful journey of preparing for his/her first triathlon experience. Part 1 provides a checklist of what equipment is required, or helpful, in training and racing for a triathlon. Part 2 summarizes the key scientific training principles that should be incorporated into all triathlon training programs. Part 3 will provide a simplified example of a beginner triathlon training schedule. Part 4 will help simplify what to do, and what to avoid doing, during race week. Part 5 will help guide the athlete on race day, from the time the alarm clock sounds, to the time the newly branded triathlete’s smile crosses the finish line. Part 6 will brainstorm what path to take, now that the newbie triathlete has been hit with the contagious ‘triathlon bug’.
