LPC at the Races: August in Review
It was 'pedal to the medal' for Team LPC in the month of August. August is historically the busiest month of the racing season. LPC athletes raced all over North America, over five weekends of races in August. Some of the highlights:
Keith Henry, Helen Robertson, and Dennis Masse participated in their first half-ironman competition at Steelhead 70.3 on Aug 3rd. Big chop in the water caused event organizers to cancel the swim and replace it with an opening 3k run.
Rob Tranter competed in the USA Canoe Kayak Championships (USCA) in Bristol, Indiana on August 9th. The event hosts every type of canoe and kayak race from 500m to the marathon distance (27k). Rob participated in the marathon distance, in the K1-ICF division; meaning the tippy boats you saw in the Olympics. He completed the race in 2 hours, 31 minutes and 17 seconds, and finishing 6th among elite men.
Team LPC was in full force at the Windsor Triathlon Weekend. Several athletes stood atop the podium. Team Loaring Physio claimed gold in the mixed relay division. John Savoni was the overall winner of the Adult Tri-a-tri.
Windsor served as a final tune-up for Coach James, who raced the following weekend at the Canadian Elite Triathlon Champs in Kelowna B.C. CJ nailed the taper and finished 4th among Canadian Elite Men. CJ went on to win the Guelph Lake II Triathlon two weeks later.
Shauna Carter finished off her first triathlon season at the Guelph Lake II Triathlon. Shauna, a registered nurse, was heroic in helping save the life of a participant who suddenly collapsed meters from the finish line.
Shelley McKee, Ralph Iannitelli, and Rob Wojtowicz, endured scorching temperatures, and a challenging course, at Ironman Louisville, on Aug 31st. Shelley had food poisoning less than 48 hours before the race, but still made it to the finish line with a smile (and huge sense of relief).
Team LPC evolves onwards and upwards from the heart of the racing season. The month of September brings several big running races, and fall marathons are on the horizon. But the triathlon season is not over, with big races to be battled on the fields of Wasaga, London, and Muskoka.
The Muskoka 70.3 Triathlon on Sept 14th will be represented by Keith Henry, Dennis Masse, Margaret Wojtowicz, and Brian Sharratt. The final triathlon in Ontario will be Lakeside II on Sept 21st. Jim Cooke will be battling his friendly age-group rival, the winner at this race will decide a season long battle to claim the HSBC series championship for their age-group. Travis Goron will finish his triathlon season at Lakeside II. Travis is entering his final year of high school, and has averaged 95% on top of a year of great athletic results.

Loaring Physiotherapy & Health Centre
Loaring Physiotherapy Moves and Expands
September 29, 2008 marks the exciting expansion and relocation of Loaring Physiotherapy & Health Centre to its new 5400 sq ft facility in Tecumseh (13126 Tecumseh Rd E, just west of Manning Rd).
Charlotte Loaring (Registered Physiotherapist, Owner, & Member of LPC), and the team at Loaring Physiotherapy, paired up with renowned local architect, Joseph Passa (Passa Associates Inc.), and professional engineer & contractor, Davide Petretta (Petretta Construction Inc.), to design and construct a new 5400 sq ft state-of-the-art health facility. The facility design takes into account all factors, including: artistic vision, innovation, privacy, safety, client and staff comfort, customer service, natural light, audio-visual capabilities, and educational resource opportunities. Windsor/Essex hasn’t seen anything like this before.
This new facility will allow the team at Loaring Physiotherapy to continue to expand and improve its services in a way our community deserves.
An Open House Evening will take place in November, and will be widely advertised. We invite you to come then, or at any other convenient time, to tour our facility, and meet and ask questions of our team. You may also wish to browse the Loaring Physiotherapy Olympic & Sports Memorabilia Collection, obtained from one of the world’s largest collections of Olympic Memorabilia.

Quote of the Month
"This was a story of possibility. If we fund our athletes, if we are innovative, if we do not bow to the nattering chorus, if we are talented, and if we are brave enough to commit our whole selves to winning knowing how much more crushing it will be should we fail, then Canada can compete with anybody. Then Canada can win."
- Bruce Arthur, National Post August 19, 2008
