Team LPC Roster
Below is a quick bio of the incredible LPC roster—a diversified mix of youth, experience, talent, potential, passion, and smiles:
Jeff Bennett
Jeff Bennett is from Windsor, and is a Director of Quality for QSS. He has been, and continues to be, a visionary philosopher for Team LPC. Jeff competed in his first triathlon at the 2006 Windsor Triathlon, after virtually zero swimming experience. Since then, he has greatly improved his swimming skills and running fitness. One goal for 2007 was to run under 30 minutes for 5k, which he recently did last month. It is only a matter of time before he breaks 25 minutes. Despite an extremely busy work schedule that has truly tested his time management skills, Jeff will be at the start line of many races this year. Jeff is a pioneer of Team LPC, and a major reason why it exists today.
Jim Cooke
Jim Cooke is the owner of the Lighthouse Inn Restaurant in Lighthouse Cove, the ultimate place for "Food, Fun, and Free Sunsets..!" Jim is also the owner of Signal Media--a Motorsports Marketing & Communications business. Jim is a former Professional Indy Race Car Drive and has fueled his passion and competitive spirit Full-Throttle-Pedal-to-the-Medal into the sport of triathlon. Despite a very ambitious work schedule that often involves weekly trips to Indianapolis and long hours at his beautiful restaurant (which in addition to gorgeous views, offers the finest perch and ribs in Essex County!), he is a true Weekend Warrior in every sense of the word. Jim is on course to win his age group in both the OTS and HSBC Triathlon Series. Jim will represent Canada at the 2008 ITU World Triathlon Champs in Hamburg on Sept 2nd. Jim is also a pioneer of Team LPC and his ingenious visions and creative thinking have been implemented into the current and future evolution of LPC.
Andrew Flanagan
Andrew is a budding Junior triathlete from Port Lambton, and is brand new to the team so we will have to figure out what initiation pranks to subject him to at Sunday’s Windsor Triathlon. Andrew has been sidelined for the first part of this year with a leg injury. He is all healed up, feels like a caged animal, and is pumped for what will very likely be an awesome late season of training and racing.
Travis Goron
Travis is a Junior triathlete from Wheatley who will be entering grade 11 in the fall. Travis is a competitive swimmer and hopes to quality for the 2009 Canada Summer Games triathlon. Travis is being groomed by CJ for draft-legal racing and one day will be racing at the ITU Elite Triathlon level. Travis competed in his first Canadian Junior Triathlon Champs earlier this year, gaining valuable experience for what looks like a bright future ahead.
Keith Henry
Keith is the President of Windsor Mold Group. Keith’s first triathlon was the 2006 Loaring Tri. Keith has an incredible passion for health and fitness, and has been bitten hard by the triathlon bug. Despite being very new to the sport, Keith’s passion for learning and "being a master at processing information", has allowed him to accelerate through the triathlon learning curve. This year is all about experience for Keith and he is a true weekend warrior with many short course races on the menu. Watch out for Keith next year as he continues to hone his skill set and equally look out for his contagious smile and zest for life.
Charlotte Loaring
CJ’s big sis. Char is the owner, and one of three physiotherapists, at Loaring Physiotherapy & Health Centre. Char was a competitive swimming sensation in her early days, winning 24 OFSAA medals for Kennedy C. I., and captaining the University of Toronto Varsity Swim Team to two National Championships. Char has been a triathlete for 15 years, and completed her first Ironman triathlon in May of this year at Ironman Brazil. Char will be competing in the Athens Marathon in November of 2008.
John Loaring
CJ’s pop. John lives at 'The Cottage', the most beautiful place on Earth, and home of the Loaring Triathlon. John is the son of the legendary track star, Johnny Loaring, who won a silver medal for Canada at the 1936 Olympic Games, and three Gold Medals for Canada at the 1938 Commonwealth Games. John Jr. was also a track star in his day and winner of the prestigious Royal Arcanum Award, which is awarded to the best high school athlete in Essex County. Swimming, kayaking, and running are integral parts of his healthy lifestyle.
John was the former President of Loaring Construction, and now keeps very busy as a financial advisor for Loaring Physiotherapy & Health Centre and various other business matters. John also owns Loaring Holdings Ltd., which, among other things, has the world's largest 1936 Olympic memorabilia collection.
Dennis Masse
Dennis is an OPP officer for the City of Windsor, so make sure you plug the fact that you are a member of Team LPC the next time you get pulled over for speeding. Dennis has just come on board and is gearing up for the Owen Sound Triathlon in one month in the hopes of qualifying for the 2008 ITU World Triathlon Champs in Vancouver. Dennis has completed many Ironmans, and recently completed the 2007 IMUSA in Lake Placid.
Shelley McKee
Shelley is from Belle River and is an accountant for Tregaskiss Welding Products. Shelley has been a revelation this year, experiencing massive improvements in her running ability and overall triathlon fitness. She completed her 7th Ironman triathlon in 7 years at the recent IMUSA in Lake Placid. Her time of 13h07min over the challenging IMUSA course was an awesome 45min improvement over her previous PB set on a much faster Ironman Florida course, and a whooping 4h08 faster than when she first tackled this course back in 1999. Shelley’s season will culminate on Nov 11th with the Woodland 101 Triathlon. Follow Shelley by tuning into her extremely popular daily blog.
Josh Seifarth
Josh is a Junior triathlete from Windsor who recently graduated from Riverside Secondary School and will be attending the University of Windsor in the fall. Josh works at the Running Factory, the best walking and running lifestyle store in Essex County. Josh recently competed in the Canadian Junior Time Trial Champs in Cycling and has many more races on the agenda this year, including a 70.3 half-ironman and the Detroit Free Press half-marathon. Look out for this talented swim/bike machine in the future.
Breanne Sharratt
Breanne is the goddess of triathlon, and the greatest sweetheart to ever roam planet Earth. Bre is also the owner of Bre-Med Transcription. Bre has had a very busy year growing her successful online medical transcription company, and settling with CJ into their new condo in Guelph. Bre has yet to compete this year, after taking some time off to focus more on her business. However, she is back ‘ninja training’ in Preservation Forest for the upcoming Milton Triathlon in September.
Jack Sullens
Jack is a legal director for the Windsor/Essex County Children's Aid Society. He is also involved in foreign elections--making him another LPC member who is a master of time management. Jack has made spectacular improvements in his limiter, the swim, over the course of the past year. He had his best ever race at Ironman Brazil in May. Jack knows better than most on how to simultaneously work hard and have fun at the same time. Legend has it that red wine is his pre/during/post hydration fluid of choice.
James Loaring aka Coach James aka CJ
CJ is the Grand Poo-bah of Team LPC. CJ is a student of the sport of triathlon and an obsessive/compulsive tri-geek. He has lived and breathed endurance sports over the past 25 years. CJ has had the great fortune to live, race, and train with many of the greatest triathletes in the history of the sport. Equally fortunate for CJ is that he has been able to pick the brain of many of the greatest minds in endurance sports: many National Team coaches, coaches of Olympians, nutritionists, physiotherapists, certified strength specialists, certified massage therapists, & world class swim/bike/run coaches. The list goes on and on. CJ is relentless when it comes to absorbing knowledge from great minds. It is an on-going process, learning that is, that will never end. It is CJ’s passion for sport and healthy active living that fuels this learning, and CJ is extremely passionate to pass this learning over to Team LPC.
CJ has had a very busy 2007 campaign. Despite the creation and rapid growth of LPC, CJ continues to be the webmaster and business consultant for Loaring Physiotherapy & Health Centre. CJ also has moved into a new condo with Breanne and Maverick in Guelph. This strategic placement is perfect for the evolution of LPC, as it is central to everything triathlon related in Ontario, and only 3k away from the newly appointed Provincial High Performance Triathlon Training Centre at the University of Guelph. CJ is currently obtaining Level 1, 2, and 3 NCCP Triathlon Coaching Certification. CJ also continues to be a loyal member of the Canadian Cross Training Club High Performance Team, which features many of Canada's top elite triathletes.
Despite all of these developments, CJ has found the time to train and compete at the highest level of the sport and continues to represent Canada by racing on the ITU World Triathlon Circuit. Highlights this year include a 4th at the World Aquathlon Champs in Ixtapa, Mexico, a 4th at the Canadian Elite Tri Champs, and a win at the Sarnia Duathlon. There are many more races this year for CJ, and he does not expect to peak until Nov 11th, for the ITU Treasure Island Continental Cup Triathlon in San Francisco. He will be a force to be reckoned with in 2008. Have a look at James Loaring's website for his latest results, and click on the sponsor logos that have made it possible for CJ to chase his athletic dreams.
Maverick aka Mavie aka Mav
Rounding out the current Team LPC roster last, but certainly not least--is the official Team LPC Mascot, Maverick. Maverick is Breanne and CJ’s precious 7-month old furry, cute, and white as can be Bichon-Poo. Mavie is the glue that holds together Team LPC. Maverick will be a very valuable component of Team LPC at the races. He has been trained to bite the tires and fingers of all of Team LPC’s competition. Fear not—he knows who you are, so make sure you come and say 'hi' and rub his belly for good luck.
