Loaring Triathon Breast Cancer Fund Reaches $75 000
The 7th Loaring Triathlon was successfully held on Saturday, September 9th, 2006 on the shores of Lake Erie near Harrow. Despite some cool and damp weather, hundreds of participants, volunteers, sponsors, and spectators were present for the days festivities. All proceeds went to "The Elena Loaring Memorial Fund for Breast Cancer Research" through the University of Windsor. The Ontario Government doubled all monies received.
The fund was started in conjunction with the 2004 Loaring Triathlon, marking the year that Elena Loaring lost her courageous battle with breast cancer. After only two short years, and with support from hundreds of people, our fund has collected over $85,000! The fund supports annual scholarships for graduate students from the University of Windsor studying in the area of breast cancer research.
The next Loaring Triathlon will be in the summer of 2008. This gives us two years to reach our goal of surpassing the $100,000 mark! Please stay tuned for updates throughout the year via the Loaring Triathlon website at www.loaring.com
